How it Works
To start sketching your house extension plans, you’re going to need some sketch paper. You can download your paper from Get a Sketch Sheet.
Don’t forget to take photographs to support your sketch. Please refer to the Guidelines section if you would like further support. Examples of sketches are shown below. When your sketches and photographs are complete, simply select the appropriate payment option and make your initial payment. You are now ready to upload. If it is more convenient, you can fax or post your sketches for upload to your account.

Our design team will produce initial plans and a 3D conceptual image of your proposed house. We will send you an email notification when they are ready for you to view and approve.

If you are not happy with any aspect of your drawing, simply resubmit your sketches until you are satisfied with the design and layout.
When you have accepted the initial drawing, you will then be asked to make an interimpayment. When your payment has been received, we will prepare and upload an interactive measurement plan to your account. You will need to complete this by filling in the required measurements online.
If you look at the example measurement plans, you’ll notice that each measurement that we require is numbered. Simply measure the dimensions indicated, and then enter them into your online interactive plan.
Please remember, we are always here to help. You can call our design team at any stage for assistance. For an additional charge, we can even take the measurements for you. Please call us if you would like to take advantage of this service.
When we’ve received your completed measurement plan, we will prepare a preliminary drawing and upload it to your secure account for approval. There is still time to make 1 FREE adjustment if you decide to redesign your layout. Any further design changes may be charged at £25.00 per adjustment.
When your final payment has been received, HandyPlan will take your preliminary plan and produce a Local Authority compliant final plan for submission. We’ll provide you with a location plan and an ordinance survey map, which you’ll need for your planning application submission; you can conveniently download electronic copies from your account. We will also send you a hard copy of the drawings through the post.
For further peace of mind, why not let us submit your detailed planning application for an additional fee, you can commission a HandyPlan agent to oversee every aspect of your application, this will ensure everything goes smoothly. We’ll liaise with the planners and keep you updated with every stage of your application, ensuring the entire process is executed efficiently.
