How to prepare your sketch

Preparing your sketch is incredibly straightforward. At this stage you don’t need to take any measurements. Simply follow the instructions below as you take the first step towards creating your new home.

Don’t worry at this stage if you aren’t sure of your exact layout. There will be plenty of opportunity to refine your choices and make changes until you are completely satisfied with your house plans.

If you’d prefer, you can mark on your existing layouts what you require. Here’s an example of what you might like: 2-storey extension with an additional bedroom and extended kitchen. With this outline information, the HandyPlan design team will create a layout and 3D image for you to consider based on the information you have given us.

SINGLE-STOREY EXTENSION

Simply print off a sketch sheet and draw a ground floor layout of your existing property together with the proposed extension you would like.

LOFT CONVERSION

To make sketches for a loft conversion, you’ll need two sketch sheets; one for the first floor and another one for the loft floor. Print off two sketch sheets and draw the first floor and loft floor layouts of your existing property together with the proposed extension you would like.

It’s important to remember that you will require a minimum clearance height of 2.20 metres in your loft.
