How does our online planning system work?
STAGE 1 - Details of your project
The initial information that we will require from you is the details of your project. These details are as follows -
A - Please fill in our "HandyPlan" questionaire, Get a Questionaire Here
B - A dimesioned sketch of your home, Get a Sketch Sheet Here
C - Photographs of your home

STAGE 2 - Send us the Information.
When you have all this information you can scan & email, fax or post it to your nearest HandyPlan office.
STAGE 3 - 1st Payment.
When we recieve all of the required information we will require a deposit before we can begin working on your Project. Your 1st payment to us should be £100.
HandyPlan will accept any payment method, are prefered payment methods are Cheques & Paypal
STAGE 4 - HandyPlan will complete your plans & send you a proof copy.
At this stage we will complete your plans within a few days of recieving all the relvant information and your deposit . When we complete your plans we will send you a proof copy of your plans for you to approve or request changes. You can make as many changes to your plans as you want before they are submitted to your local authority.
STAGE 5 - 2nd Payment
When we recieve an email stating that you have approved the drawings. We will require the outstanding amount on your account. We can send you an invoice by post or online via PayPal. Once this payment has been cleared by our Bank HandyPlan will submit your drawings to your local authority for free. Or Alternativley we will send you your drawings and you can organise the application process, whichever you prefer.
STAGE 6 - HandyPlan Will Submit Your Drawings.
If you want HandyPlan will submit your plans to your local authority and oversee the entire planning process free of charge. All we will require is your local authorities fee and a map fee. The cost of these fees are as follows -
England - £150
Scotland - £150
Wales - £150
Northern Ireland - £267
All map fees - £40
These fees apart from the Map Fee should be payable to your local council unless noted otherwise. At this stage we will inform you of any additional costs that your council will require (i.e. Design/Concept & Access Statement, Structural Calculations) and inform you about know how much they will cost. We will also liaise with your local council whilst at the same time informing you on any progress every step of the way this in turn will ensure that your application will run smoothly.
STAGE 7 - Your Planning Decision???
When your local Authority recieves your Planning Application from us, depending on your location they will access your application for the following durations -
England, Scotland, Wales usually take 8 weeks.
Northern Ireland usually takes 12 weeks.
After this time they should reach a decision, durring this time as we are your agent they will liase with us, leaving you to get on with everything else. i.e. Finance, Builders, Quotations and so on. But dont worry it all fits into place once you get Planning Permission.
.................................................................................................................... Once Planning Permission Has Been GrantedSTAGE 8 Building Control Approval
can upgrade your plans for Building Control Approval for an additional fee of £399. This can be paid to us using the same payment method as the 1st and 2nd planning payments. Once we have recieved your payment we will upgrade your drawings from Planning/Line drawings to Building Control/Construction drawings. As well as gaining Building Control Approval using the drawings the approved drawings and be used to obtain accurate quotations from builders and will form the basis of any contract between you and your chosen builder.
STAGE 9 You approve the Building Control/Construction Drawings
When we have upgraded your Planning/Line drawings to Building Control/Construction drawings we will email you a copy for your approval. Upon your approval we will submit the Construction Drawings and all relevant documents, calculations, fees & maps to your local council.
STAGE 10 Building Control Approval
We will liase with your council to make sure that your application is approved as quickly as possible. Councils normally take 8 weeks to access applications, but this duration can vary. Once you have your approved drawings you will be required to notify your local Building Contol office at key points in the build these are normally - groundworks, drainage, foundations, brickwork to cill level, brickwork to wall plate level and so on.
